In an effort to come to terms with the fact that I am no longer in Japan and need to start behaving like a functional adult I have decided to re-discover London the only way I know how, through food, booze and fabulous to-dos.
I have lived in London for almost 5 years now and yet just as I think I’m on the verge of really knowing an area it all seems to change, but that’s the beauty of London. So in an attempt to rekindle my love for this city and provide helpful advice for anyone visiting or living in London, I am going to explore everything that this city has to offer.
Accompanying me on this adventure will be a fellow wine enthusiast and one of my dearest friends, the incomparable Little Lady Luthier (check her out on Instagram @little_lady_luthier). Between the two of us we are going to try and find odd and charming places across London as well as try out some of the city’s most famous hot spots.
Along the way there will no doubt be trips, falls and all manner of embarrassing escapades…but don’t worry I won’t leave out any of the details! We will be going everywhere from Parsons Green to Greenwich and Stoke Newington to Peckham Rye. In each of these places we are going to try to find the best places to eat, drink and explore.
I don’t want this to be a bog standard city guide, I want to help people find the real London in all its overcast glory! We want to find places where Londoners hang out, places off the tourist trail where plucky travelers can catch a glimpse of the warm beating heart that hides beneath London’s tough and polite exterior.
Living in London for so long is fantastic but it also means that I often fall into the trap of visiting the same places over and over again. Therefore any suggestions that you have for places to visit would be very much welcome.
So every week from now until the end of March I will be posting my personal guide to London, neighborhood by neighborhood. If you want to keep up with this adventure in real time then follow me on Instagram or Facebook @adventuresofalostqueen.
See you soon,
